A 35-YEAR-old woman ignited tension
in Trabuom, a community in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti
Region after she allegedly killed her ex-husband during a fight over
GH¢1,500 on Tuesday.
Martha Adwoa Ode, who reportedly stabbed her
former husband to death, is currently in the custody of the Asokwa
District Police Command in Kumasi to face the law.
The police have begun investigations into the circumstances leading to the callous act.
Both of them were said to be strangers in the community.
Briefing
journalists, the Asokwa Divisional Police Commander, Rev.
Superintendent Dr. Nana Nyamekye Adane-Ameyaw said the suspect separated
from the victim (name unknown for now) about six months ago after two
years of marriage.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that prior to their
separation, the victim had taken a loan of GH¢1,500 from the suspect to
rent an accommodation, but failed to repay.
Later, the man went
in for another woman in the village; a conduct which infuriated the
suspect after a friend of hers informed her about it.
According
to the police, incensed about the development, Ode who was in Mankranso,
the district capital of Ahafo-Ano South that fateful day, rushed to
Trabuom where she found the deceased and the new woman.
A quarrel
ensued between the two women and in the victim’s attempt to separate
them, Adwoa Ode demanded her money but before he could respond, she
allegedly stabbed him in the ribs forcing his intestines out.
The
man was rushed to the Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching
Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi but was pronounced dead moments later.
In
another development, a man believed to be in his 40s was knocked down
by a speeding mini passenger bus registered AS 5724 – 09 at about 9:00am
at Agona on the Kumasi-Mampong road on Wednesday.
Fright gripped
eyewitnesses for minutes as none of them had the courage to immediately
attend to him while he lay motionlessly on the ground.
The
victim, whose left leg was seriously fractured, was rushed to the Agona
SDA Hospital for medical attention. It was, however, not certain if he
would survive the tragedy.
The victim, whose identity could not
be immediately known, had alighted from a Mercedes Benz Sprinter
passenger bus and was attempting to cross the road when the vehicle hit
him.
The suspected driver was taken to the Agona Police Station.
