The Brong Ahafo Regional Police
Command is looking for a teacher who has absconded after impregnating a
14-year-old pupil at Mitumi near Sankore in the Asunafo South District.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Tuesday, Assistant
Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, the Regional Police
Public Relations Officer, said the teacher attempted to abort the
pregnancy and this had resulted in complications.
He said the girl, in a serious condition, was on admission at the Sankore Health Centre.
ASP Tawiah said the suspect, James Kuso, 30, was a Class Five teacher
at the Sankore District Assembly Primary School and the girl was in his
class.
He said the teacher had been defiling the girl for some
time, realized she was pregnant for four months and decided to abort it.
He travelled with the girl to Sunyani for the act without the knowledge
of her parents.
ASP Tawiah said on February 25 at about 0700
hours the girl’s father, Mr Sarfo Boadu, reported to the police at
Sankore of their missing daughter, adding that she was later found in
the teacher’s room.
Mr Tawiah said the case was reported to the Police but he had escaped when Police went to his house.
He appealed to the public to volunteer information which could lead to the arrest of suspect for prosecution.
