We’all know that Money may not buy you happiness, but if you’re an O.B.O
it can surely buy you golden iPhones, international football star
friends and even a nationwide hit song!
Now
while this might not come as a shocker to keen Nigerian music
enthusiasts, Information reaching us from inside sources assure us that
in fact, Davido didn’t write ‘Aye,’ but rather Runtown did.
According to our insiders, DavidO paid Runtown a sum of 1 million
Naira for the song. Reportedly, he wanted to buy both the songs, ‘Aye’
and ‘Gallardo’ but Runtown refused and rather proposed that DavidO
feature on the second track, ‘Gallardo’ which would be his’.
Furthermore, our sources claim that this is how Runtown, the crooner
of hit song ‘Party Like Its 1980,’ was able to fund the video for
Gallardo. Runtown, for those who don’t know is a fast rising singer who
has worked with notable acts like: Phyno, Skales, Patoranking and so on.
DavidO on the other hand is not a stranger to such allegations, as a
similar scenario played out upon release of his previous hit single,
‘Gobe.’ However unlike in Gobe, both parties here are in agreement.
That said, we wanna assure our Jonzers that song-buying is legal and
practiced by notable acts the world over. However, original or not, Aye
is a beautiful song and we can’t stop listening to it.
